HGTV: Change the World

HGTV's Change the World is now looking for a city to renovate. Southwest Atlanta is one of the areas voters are able to support. If Atlanta wins, Ron Clark (a well known teacher and philanthropist) and his team will create an education facility and green space that will benefit the entire community. This school will offer study abroad programs, top notch educators, as well as eco-friendly learning facilities. Help children in a low income community have the opportunity to experience a five star education.

Atlanta, of course, is not the only city on the list, but it is close to my heart because I am from Georgia and an educator as well. Please, everyone take the time to vote for your favorite city. Thank you in advance for your support.

Feed the Children Auction

With the Holidays quickly approaching sometimes the stress of last minute shopping, decorating, and minute details get us down. I know I'm certainly guilty of forgetting sometimes what this holiday season is about, giving...and the world definitely makes it easy for us to forget that. That's why I'm excited to tell you about one of the wonderful things going on in Second Life: Oasis is having a designer auction to benefit the Feed the Children Foundation. I have volunteered to take part in the festivities.

Eight Random Things (Thanks Simmy)

1. I am afraid of driving. Only a handful of people actually knew that (until now). I got into a car accident when I was 18 and was never able to get over it. The odd thing? It wasn't even that serious...but now, anytime I try to drive, my heart starts pounding out of my chest and I feel like I'm about to vomit. This wouldn't be so bad if I lived in lets say...New York...but I don't. So, my husband and sister usually have the job of driving me around, which REALLY sucks. Especially since overall, I'm a very independent person. It drives me nuts that this ONE thing makes me depend so heavily on others.

2. I enjoy sickeningly sweet people. I don't mean the fake heffers you want to kick in the mouth. No, I mean the genuine ones that you want to just put in your pocket and keep forever. Mind you, I don't come across that type of person very often but when I meet them, I hold on to them for dear life. A good example would be my husband. He's one of the most selfless people I've ever met. Sometimes I feel like I have to protect him from the big bad world. I know he makes it a full time job of protecting me :-)

3. I want to grow up and be just like my mom....Err, minus her off color humor (too late) and need to redecorate every two weeks. My mother is one of those people who is a survivor. Her childhood was crappy, my bio dad left us after a twelve year marriage, we had no money and had to live in the "ghetto" until she put herself through college. To make matters worse....she was living with Lupus. She manged to turn every negative situation around into something absolutely fabulous. Meaning, that even with our struggles, she produced three, well rounded, AWESOME children who all have very successful lives. Because of her and my stepdad, most of my life seemed like smooth sailing.... even with everything going on. How many people are blessed enough to say that? I hope that when I become a mother that I have her strength and wisdom.

4. My sister and I are working on a teleplay. I really can't tell you what it's about or I'd have to kill you. What I can say, is that one day, our teen drama will be on television...We just have too many stories and T.V. junkie experience for it not to!

5. My favorite sound is scissors cutting carpet. I know, WEIRD! But think about it and you'll have to admit, the sound IS pretty cool.

6. I've always wanted to visit San Diego. It started with me meeting this guy from there and he made it sound like this heavenly place to live if you were into surfing, being cool and partying. Now, mind you...I don't surf, I'm not "cool" nor do I like most parties...but I'd like to spend one day in that "Don't you want to go to cardio bar with me and afterwards pick up some fish tacos" lifestyle.

7. I went to a performing arts high school. I wasn't in the program, I just happened to live in the district where the magnet school was located. I did try my hand at drama though. It was pretty fun. It's much easier to be in front of a lot of people when you're pretending to be someone else. I used to often wonder how shy people could be actors. That answered my question.

8. I REALLY REALLY enjoy music. I cannot sing, play an instrument, or even dance...but I love love love when I discover a new band. One thing many artists don't know...and I'm telling you now kids....If you want to be famous, you should send me your album. For some reason, any and EVERY "underground...look we're so cool we'll never go mainstream" band I ever got into became really big. I just have lucky ears. Trust me! Wanna know what kind of music I like? Check the very bottom of my blog :-D

One of my favorite outfits has always been Vitamin Ci-Jeni. So it's no surprise that when I've decided to discontinue some items due to my increasing abilities, I had to save Jeni. How? No Trans ITEMS...

You'll see the above notice posted all over the Hefferoo sim, but just in case you've not visited in a while...here ya are! Items will be non trans/copy/prim skirts and selected items (like certain pants) mod. There are several reasons why I'm going this route. Here are a few of them: SL is borked often. I get at least one customer a day saying they didn't receive an outfit they bought. I'd feel a lot more comfortable handing the replacement over if I knew for sure they didn't just give it to a friend and are now expecting me to give them a new one. Most people are NOT doing that, I'm sure....but here's one way to be safe. Also, there are an increasing amount of resellers around, which would not bother me, except some charge more for my items than "I" do. Not cool. Soooo, here's your chance. If you'd like to buy any item while it's still transferable, you have almost two weeks. It also helps me get the word out so there are no surprises. Speaking of surprise...my addicts will get a little treat coming soon. I'll post more on that later ;-)

I'm a big fan of re-releasing, since I'm better at Photoshop and believe you deserve MY best. So anyway, I decided to re-do Verlanis (shown above). Verlanis seems to be a crowd favorite, especially with my lovely clubber customers, so I got to "redoin". By time I finished though, It was a different outfit altogether, not worthy of a 2.0 stamp (Verlanis will be soon be discontinued). So now, we have Thandi. Farrah is my 70's inspired outfit. One of my assistants wanted to do a 70's party...and I was like ummmm...I don't have any 70's outfits! So many people were asking for the Swirve top in different patterns and colors so I figured this would make everyone happy....The handkerchief top has a subtle paisley pattern and the bell bottoms have some not so subtle mod prim bells. I especially love the butterfly buckle on the belt as well as the butterfly tattoo that can be worn on the back. It's available in 4 awesome colors (Brown Shown). Vitamin Ci's Grand Opening Reflection...

Oh, so many changes I've been through in the past few months! New friends, new sim, new chapter in my life. There's only been one constant, and that is my family. Why not? They have to put up with me! Anyway, most of you know that I had my grand opening on Sunday, but what had me all misty was my family! They threw a suprise Vitamin Ci grand opening celebration for me RL. I freaked! Like many other business people in SL I'm sure you've gotten the head scratching and puzzled look when you try to explain what you do on Second Life. My family was the same way until they saw how much work I put into it and what I was producing. Ever since then they've been behind me 110% and their party Sunday night proved it:

Ciera Bergman may be cute all day, but RL Calesta looked like she was suprised by this photo and on the computer all day (that white stuff all over me is homemade confetti)...Sorry kids, had to block me out. I have something against showing people my pictures unless I'm looking dead sexy. But you can see the fiance..he's hot :-D

Yeah, so I'm bad at blogging. It amazes me how some can blog like 3 or 4 things at a time. I bow before them! Okay, so what's new? Lots...but let me start off with Swirve (more to come later). Cayman...

Yay, new items! Cay is the newest addition to Vitamin Ci. Issa Scaggs came up with the name. She said it reminded her of the Cayman Islands. I agree...I need a vacation...It comes with a top, capris, prim capri cuffs, and a flex belt. Colors: Orange, Green, Purple, Pink (shown), and Blue. Stop by the main store to pick up these goodies. PS: As of this past Friday, I am officially a Middle Grades Education Teacher...certified to teach Language Arts and Social Studies...That long road to a B.S. is finally over...Masters (and chilluns), here I come :-D

...Yeah, I know. Don't hurt me! It's been a while....BUT...I have some goodies for you...WEEE! Vitamin Ci-Rachel. She's the classy chick that you know has lots of tricks up her sleeve. Okay...so if you read my blogs often, you know I'm a big "America's Next Top Model" fan. I pick a model early and I stick with them til the end. AJ was my favorite last season and she didn't win...That sucked....And, although I'm excited about Diana and Whitney (the first plus sized models on the show) this season, I'm more excited about Jael. Jael is from Detroit. She seems a little rough around the edges (I like that) and she's a sweetie pie with a very unique look. When she told the panel she was half black/half german, I was wowed and thought about the possibilities of Jay (he's German)...and our baby looking NOTHING like me...but I digress. I hope she wins, because she's fierce without being a total biatch! Good luck to you. Jael...

Tankies for Seperates!

As of late, there have been many customers requesting seperates. I decided to take a stab at it and do some tanks and shorts. The "Tankie" line has 4 set of tank top colors: Romance, Nights (shown), Naturals, and Royals. The jean shorts come in Black, White, Tawny, Brown, and Blue. Why the 2.0's?

Well, some people think that after making an outfit and getting better, that the old "ugly" ones should go in a vault and never be seen again. I disagree. The idea is still great and with a little more knowledge, you can make an outfit that looked "okay" and turn it into your current fabulous. That's what I've done with Vitamin Ci-Sporty v2.0. I've fixed up some thangs, made them pastel (Cotton Candy, shown), added socks and there you go! Customers are happy about the boycut shorts and I'm happy a good idea that started off with a cut off top and some boyshorts turned into something else...with a little bit of shading here and there!
